Drummers and Drum Kits
Rock world or the jazz world is an exclusive place to find a good drummer. There are many bands which had come and gone, taking with them their drummers, but few of them remain in the memories of the people. Drummers like Keith Moon, Jon Bonham, Neil Pert, Lars Ulrich and few others are still idolized by their fans. They are a excellent class by themselves. Each is different from the other, whether it is the drumming style or the drum kits they use.
Let us begin with Keith Moon. He was born in23rd August 1946 and died on 7th September 1978. He lived a short period of life because of his alcoholism and acute odd behaviour. He is still famous. Some of his followers also named him as ‘Mad Moon’. He was renowned for his innovativeness and was a dramatic drummer. In 1964 Keith joined ‘The Who’ band. He was a very fast drummer, a singer and also a composer. He used to play faster and sound, but with authority. He used explosives and fireworks in his stage shows.. He was so peculiar that he has broken many drums and perhaps his hobby was to blow up toilets.

Drum Ensemble
Goro-Goro is an ensemble of musicians, singers, and dancers based in San Diego, California. Performances include drumming, percussion, melodic instruments, dance, and vocals to create a blend of audio and visual entertainment. The music has roots in many world cultures, but is developed with few intentions of ethnic identity or authenticity. It is not African or Latin or Indonesian; it is San Diegan.
Performances are geared towards stage performance for a seated audience, dance clubs, or a mixture. Emphasis is on percussion and physical movement over melody or verbal content, though all elements are involved. The percussion ranges from sparse, light rhythms with melodic accompaniment to massive, powerful beats that shake the walls, massage your heart, an move your feet. All music is acoustic and natural, with no electronics or amplification.

From an Acoustic to an Electronic Drum
I used to have a nice, soundproofed practice room that I built in my garage. It wasn’t the best unit in the world, but I was very proud of it. Then I moved house.
I was presented with a problem. The family was growing and there was nowhere in the house that I could play the drums without driving the family and the new neighbors up the wall. Soundproofing a room was out of the question because we simply couldn’t afford to sacrifice an entire room. Space was at a premium.
So what should I do? Give up playing? Although I wasn’t playing in a band at the time, the idea of being unable to play whenever I wanted was not an appealing thought. I’ve been playing the drums for about 20 years – I haven’t persevered at anything else for half as long. I always knew that the day might come when I would no longer be able to play an acoustic drum set at home. And this is why I decided in advance that I would have to look into the possibility of an electronic drum set.
